The Taxiway NA Reconstruction Project aimed to rebuild and expand Taxiway NA, which served as one of the main routes for access to the terminal complex from the north and west runways. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requested this reconstruction to accommodate the forecasted growth of air traffic and larger aircraft, as well as the expansion of terminals and concourses.

The project had a budget of $83 million and involved the complete reconstruction of 9,450 linear feet of Taxiway NA, resulting in a lifespan of up to 30 years. The reconstruction process occurred in multiple phases to meet FAA airplane Design Group VI requirements, which included larger aircraft like the B747-400.

The project involved the removal and disposal of existing Taxiway NA concrete pavement, including all associated items such as lights, signs, electrical cable, and pavement sub-surface materials. New taxiway pavement was constructed with a stabilized subgrade, cement-treated base, and reinforced Portland cement concrete surface course. Additionally, new paved shoulders were constructed using recycled crushed concrete aggregate base and bituminous concrete surface course.

To ensure safe and efficient taxiway operations, the project also involved the installation of new taxiway lights, signs, and electrical cable and conduits, as well as new electrical and communication duct banks, pull boxes, manholes, and underdrainage.

Overall, the Taxiway NA Reconstruction Project was a significant investment in the airport's infrastructure, ensuring the safety and efficiency of air travel for years to come.
